Stuff I Bought / Yard Sale Trip 08 / Group 11
Stuff I Bought - Yard Sale Trip - 2008 / Group 10
I got this cute hand made "Seminole Indian" type apron for $3.00; isn't it cute? I've seen jackets made like this but never an apron.
Got this adorable old 1961 Texaco calendar with the cutest little girl on front and wait 'til you see some of the "monthly" photos; they're just so Ozzie & Harriett that I can't stand it!

Aren't these just too awesome? I really was born in the wrong year; although, this was only 2 years before I was born in '63. Oops, I just gave up my age didn't I?.....

Stuff I Bought / Group 9 - Yard Sale Trip 2008
Another cool booklet that I found was this "East to Make Colorful Costumes by Dennison Crepe Paper". You won't believe the detailed and beautiful costumes that this booklet shows you how to make out of crepe paper, which people used to do for school plays, church programs and Halloween Costumes. Check some of them out as they're amazing!

Look how cool this book is that I got for $1.00! It's called "Transformagic by DuPont" and it's dated 1949. And the subtitle is "The Art of Making Old Things New" which is the story of my life with garage sale treasures so I had to have it!

Stuff I Bought / Group 4 - Yard Sale Trip 2008
More stuff from the Senior Center and
from the old hotel & cabin place where we go. I got the cool coffee caraffe with the copper band for $0.10 (yep, you read that right...); the large make up carryall with the red floral print for $0.50; the toaster & mixer cover pattern for $0.25; the apron pattern for $0.25 and the cool tablecloth in the background with the birds for $20.00. (the colors were still great so I paid "high dollar"...) Oh yeah, I got the old style fruit magnets on the lower left for $0.50 (actually probably a little less as they're were a ton of magnets in the bag that these were in for $1.50 and we shared them with me, the SIL, my mom and niece...)Stuff I Bought / Group 3 - Yard Sale Trip 2008
Stuff I bought / Group 2 - Yard Sale Trip 2008
I got the awesome 50's fabric in the background for $15.00 (from a lady that I also bought a great tablecloth from last year) and plan to make some valances from; the sweatshirt with the redbird in dowtown Crossville at the depot for my mom for $3.00; the cool chip and dip trays (or at least that's what I think they are) a stack of five for $0.75; the small yellow Edwin M. Knowles bowl for $1.00; the set of 2 crochet trivets that are red, yellow and green for $5.00 for the pair (they were asking $4.00 each); and the Ma & Pa potholders for $5.00 for the set (they had been asking $7.00 for the pair); and the fruit enamel coffee cup for $0.25. I love the art of bargaining and on the World's Longest yard sale it's expected and welcomed when done very nicely!
Stuff I Bought / Group 1 - Yard Sale Trip 2008
This is probably one of the best groups of items that I bought from one lady in the Crossville area (I think...) and I was so excited. I got the Margaret Smith purse with the birds for $1.00; the red white and blue vinyl 70's purse for $0.25; the red & blue vinyl wallet for $0.25; the Lance counter jar lid (which I had been looking for FOREVER and when you find them at antique stores they want $20.00 to $25.00 for) for a whopping $0.10!; I got the little melmac plate for $0.10 and 2 vintage 50's books that aren't in this picture all for $2.40! This may have been the best buy on the trip! *(oh yeah, the blue flowered 50's pillow case in the background I got yesterday 8/16 for $0.05!)
Free Bluegrass Festival on our last night in Jamestown, TN - Yard Sale Trip 2008
How lucky were we? On the last night we were in Jamestown, TN they held a free bluegrass music festival in the town square and we drove into town (took us about 2 minutes from Highway 127...) and enjoyed some wonderful Tennessee Bluegrass music. We sat on the steps of a law firm and clapped and hummed along to the performers. We could sure tell from the looks we got that we were definitely "some of those yard salers..." amongst the locals but we didn't care as it was just more fun for us on our trip.
God's Country in Tennessee - Yard Sale Trip 2008
Downtown Crossville, TN and the otters...Yard Sale Trip 08
Check out me and my sweet SIL posing with the otters in downtown Crossville, TN. We found a wonderful little store at the depot there where the shopkeeper told us the historical significance of the otters and how they were almost extinct but how now, they're in abundance in the area. Guess they're project worked, huh? We bought cute stuff at her shop; got a cute sweatshirt with a redbird and Tennessee on it for my mom for $3.00 (hey, we're still trying to find bargains as WE ARE on the yard sale trip...), a cute earring set for my SIL with sports charms on it for $1.00; a coffee mug for the SIL for $1.00 and I think a few more things too. But, most of all we had a blast posing with Mr. Otter! Check out the cute dowtown buildings in this little town. It's like a postcard for Americana!
