High Cotton Yard Sale Trip & Ruby Hits the Road! Part 1

Wow, was this a fun weekend or what?! I was so excited that T. & C. asked me to go along with them to the 65 mile High Cotton Yard Sale trip that runs from Fort Gaines, GA to Camilla, Ga on old Hwy 37 . You know from previous posts how much I love any yard sale and especially the kind that runs for miles, and miles, and miles...oh, I almost broke out in song!

So, I took off from work a little early on Friday, the 8th and headed out to C's house where we had to load up the jackass, yeah, you read that right, we had to load up the jackass or donkey depending on what you want to call Maggie and got ready to hit the road! T.'s dad and stepmom were so nice to invite us to stay with them so that helped out a lot and we were taking Maggie a/k/a "the jackass" to D. (T's stepmom) for a surprise for her birthday.
Look here for the pictures of how all that went down...

First, we had to pack up the truck with all the food stuff for T & C to sell so they worked hard and got that took care of lickety split! You see, they were going to work for the day and I, of course, was going to shop! Me & Ruby, that is, and you'll see her show up in the following pictures as she helped us get ready, kept me company on the road, shopped on the trip and overall, she had a great trip. Oh yeah, she's got her full name now - Ruby Rita (yeah, you guessed it "Rita" is short for Margarita...even though we didn't consume any on this trip). Check her out as she had a great time too. You'll see her walkie talkie that we used to talk between our vehicles as we made our road trip up to the sale!

Look how T. mounted the trailer hitch in order to help C. line up the truck with the hitch...careful T., don't let that thing slip and hurt yourself...Okay, now that we got the trailer hooked up, the food loaded and our walkie talkies in each vehicle, it's time to go to the pasture and load up Maggie for the trip...as you'll see, this took a bit of doing and I pretty much was a spectator and photographer for this event. It was gorgeous out here where C. keeps her donkeys and horses and they had to work their "_sses" off to get our jackass ready for her trip! Get it?! LOL!

Okay, so far, so good, notice how T. & C. were "bribing" little Maggie with some food...well, it does take a little bit of coaxing to load a baby donkey, who has never even been in a trailer, much less left their mother, to load up and take a road trip to a new home. Check out these pictures of T & C getting Maggie into the trailer while all I had to do was take pictures and close the door REAL quick, once we got her in there. Whew!

C'mon C. - you can do it, pull that donkey with all of your might...

That's it, she's getting closer....now, what I don't have a picture of (because I was actually trying to help out a little more at this point by closing the door, is that C. tied the rope into the side of the trailer and T. got in there to make sure it stayed and C. got out, lifted Maggie by her belly and she was in! Whew, did I say again how much I don't want to be responsible for any animals or their transport....

But, now we're ready, the food is loaded, Ruby is loaded, and sweet little Miss Maggie is loaded up and ready to hit the road! We head out to Georgia and checking out this view just one more time.
